I made a little personal history last night as I brought a new CD to mastering. This was a BEAR of a project. 3 Years in the making. This was not a band album, it was a personal journey that emerged from the past few years as a singer-songwriter. Jimmy Leahey and I had a bunch of unfinished pieces lying around in various stages of completion.... I had also begun writing and recording with Eryn Shewell a few years ago which also got derailed via everyone being sidetracked. In May I revisited this project and realized that these were amazing songs and they needed to be finished. I didn't know if I had the energy necessary to make it happen....that's where Al Greene came into the picture. He spent 100's of hours...and that's no exaggeration, on these tracks. He added bass where needed, he added drums and percussion where needed, he added piano, he mixed the tracks and the product is stunning. Via a good friend... we decided to master it at Sterling Sound in Chelsea Market NYC. An awesome experience. The sound was incredible. Steve Fallone is a genius. Eli was there and got really into it. Jimmy stopped by as well. So I spent the evening filling out BMI forms and OK ing the reference tracks. Now it's a CD design and getting it out. Whew...
